makes the best coffee ever
|

I've had this coffee maker for a year now. It makes the BEST coffee ever! It's just as good as the Bodum Vaccuum Pot!! And you cannot beat the price!
I gave it 4 stars because of the following:
1. I could not find a gold filter, so I have to use paper filters.
2. The hot plate is now peeling-still works great though.
3. If I pour fast, the carafe drips.
It is still worth it and I will buy another. |
As expected

| A great coffee maker. The coffee has been fantastic, but there are some other things that would be nicer. It doesn't have a great feel to it, seems a bit on the light/flimsy side. A few times, while brewing a larger batch, there has been a problem with the coffee going into the pot, some sneaks down on the side. Progamming is easy, but again the light/flimsy part shows. |
GREAT TASTING COFFEE

This is without a doubt the best coffee maker you can buy for under a hundred bucks. This machine brews at the PROPER 200ºF. Most consumer drip coffee makers brew at a considerably lower temp, which means the extraction of the flavor from the beans is incomplete and the coffee doesn't taste nearly as good.
There ARE reliability and design issues with this machine. If you want a better machine that brews at the proper temp, your only option is the $~250 Technivorm... |
Great when you break it in

As others have said this is a fantastic coffee maker. It really does brew the best coffee at a fraction of the price of other high end models. I tested the water coming out at 200 degrees F consistently. My Brauns and Krupps at twice the price never got close to that.
The downside is you have to use it enough to get rid of the plastic smell. It does go away eventually.
The really downside is that they've discontinued this coffee maker. Hopefully they have an improved model in development. In case mine breaks or dies. |

| I have had 3 of these makers. They make the best coffee i've had out of a drip type unit hands down. But they will only last about a year then the electronic board that controls everything will start to fail. At first it will shut off in the middle of brewing, you would then hit the ON button and it will finish, but eventually it will totally fail. If they would just fix that problem it would be a fantastic brewer. |
